Following in the footsteps of the late Maharashtra Navnirman Sena MLA from Khadakwasala, Ramesh Wanjale, yet another goldman is trying his luck at the forthcoming civic body elections.

Nationalist Congress Party's (NCP) Samrat Moze (30), who is hoping to contest from Panel 14 in Shivajinagar, has gained recognition for sporting gold ornaments weighing 8.5 kg that cost over Rs 2.37 crore. Before the code of conduct was enforced, in his bid to attract voters', Moze had put up massive banners across the city with his bling bling on.

When questioned whether the late MNS MLA inspired him, Moze said, "My fascination for gold dates back to my childhood days. My father would gift me gold chains when I was a school kid and I would wear them with pride."

Apart from being a rich farmer's son, Moze is also a tourist bus operator at Shivajinagar. Commenting on his work after he entered active politics a decade ago, Moze stated that so far, he has organised health workshops for women, blood donation camps and has ferried nearly 5,000 pilgrims to religious places such as Akkalkot, Tuljapur and Pandharpur. "I'm sure that the party high command will appreciate my work and allow me to contest for the elections on my merit."

Doctors from the Texas Heart Institute have successfully replaced a patient’s heart with a device that keeps the blood flowing, thereby allowing him to live without a detectable heartbeat or even a pulse. Here’s how it works:

The turbine-like device, that are simple whirling rotors, developed by the doctors does not beat like a heart, rather provides a ‘continuous flow’ like a garden hose.

Craig Lewis was a 55-year-old, dying from amyloidosis, which causes a build-up of abnormal proteins. The proteins clog the organs so much that they stop working, according to NPR.

But after the operation, with the ‘machine’ as his heart’s replacement, Lewis’ blood continued to spin and move through his body.

However, when doctors put a stethoscope to his chest, no heartbeat or pulse can be heard (only a ‘humming’ sound)—which “by all criteria that we conventionally use to analyze patients”, Doctor Cohn said, he is dead.

This is proof that “human physiology can be supported without a pulse”.

With all the talk of replacing human organs with those of an animal and electronic hearts, it’s surprising that medical researchers overlooked taking a trip to the plumbing section of the hardware store for replacement parts!

Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg has updated his status to "married" on his facebook profile today and so did his wife Priscilla Chan

Zuckerberg and 27-year-old Priscilla Chan tied the knot at a small ceremony at his Palo Alto, Calif., home Saturday, capping a busy week for the couple.

Zuckerberg took his company public in one of the most anticipated moves in Wall Street history Friday. And Chan graduated from medical school at the University of California, San Francisco, on Monday, the same day Zuckerberg turned 28.

The couple met at Harvard and have been together for more than nine years.

A company spokeswoman said Zuckerberg designed the ring featuring "a very simple ruby" that he designed himself.

The ceremony took place in Zuckerberg's backyard before fewer than 100 guests, who all thought they were there to celebrate Chan's graduation.

But, child actor Taruni Sachdev's cruel demise is an example of destiny. 14-year-old Taruni's death has left the film fraternity as well as her loved ones in a state of shock. But, what's more surprising is Taruni's behaviour and phone messages before the crash.

When a leading daily spoke to Taruni's friends, they learnt few strange and shocking truths. One of Taruni's friends informed the daily that before leaving for Nepal trip, Taruni hugged all her friends and said to them, "I'm meeting you guys for the last time." Though it was a light-hearted joke, according to her classmates, Taruni had "never hugged her friends or sent them goodbye messages before leaving for any of her earlier trips."

Taruni's best friend Tanushkha Pillai gave us one more shocking information about the deceased. Just before boarding the flight, she messaged Tanushkha, jokingly asking what would happen if the plane crashed. Taruni's friends believe that their best friend's death was destined to happen.
