Very Funny and Creative Sketch - Mouse After 100 Years

Some History About Kandivali

Kandivali was inhabited in the Stone Age. The township was semi-rural up to the 1980s, with agricultural land, huts and villages. With the real estate boom in the 1980s and 1990s, many residential projects started to shift northward.

The Kandivali railway station was built 100 years ago in 1907, then known as Khandolee. The station probably derived its name from the Marathi word "Khaan" meaning mine. The area around Western Express between Malad and Kandivali had numerous stone quarries and was once famous for Malad Stone. Many heritage buildings in Mumbai were constructed with Malad stone between 1860 and 1930, notable among them are David Sasson library, Bombay House, Western Railway building at Churchgate. The original inhabitants were the Koli (fishermen) of Charkop village.

Uttar Pradesh Village "Shiv Nagar" - changes its nSnapdeal.com Nagar . . . Read Why?

A small village from Uttar Pradesh in India has decided to rename itself from ‘Shiv Nagar’ to ‘Snapdeal.com Nagar’ (nagar means town) which is apparently named after an online deals website – Snapdeal.com. Apparently, the village itself decided to name themselves after the website, to thank the company to install manual water pumps around the village, bringing the inhabitants clean drinking water for the very first time.

Well, there goes a +1 for their PR, this was a indeed a huge success. Snapdeal.com CEO, Kunal Bhal

“We honestly did something very simple – didn’t even cost that much – and installed 15 hand pumps, which now enable clean water within a distance of 50 meters for all the residents of the village.”

“We must have spent a total of $5000 on getting this and the really cool part about this is that these 15 hand pumps will give clean water to the villagers for the next 15-20 years!”

He also added how a small company can improve a few things is small village and how other large organizations can do the same.

“Ours is a fast growing, yet relatively still-to-get-there company with 500 people.”

“There are 640,000 companies incorporated in India, many many of them much much larger than ours. Assuming even 10% have the resources to do anything (and $5000 isn’t really a lot), we can solve water problems for 64,000 villages and millions of people in India. Something to think about.”

While this is definitely going to help the company create a better image and maybe had a lot to do with their brand marketing, the fact is we don’t care. Clean drinking water for 15 years, for a village where even the government showed no interest, makes me proud to be a Snapdeal.com user. They have definitely earned it and let there be Snapdeal.com Nagar!

Treasure of Satya Sai Baba - Almost 98 kg gold, 307kg Silver and Rs.12 crore cash found in Sathya Sai Baba's chamber

Hyderabad: Around Rs.12 crore in cash and nearly 100 kg of gold were found from Yajur Mandir, the personal chamber of late spiritual guru Sathya Sai Baba, at Prashanti Nilayam in Puttaparthi of Anantapur district, a trust official said.
A day after the Sathya Sai Central Trust opened the locks of Yajur Mandir, trust member and Baba's nephew R.J. Ratnakar Friday evening announced details of the cash and valuables found inside.

He told reporters at Puttaparthi that they found Rs.11.56 crore, 98 kg gold and 307 kg silver. Ratnakar said the cash would be deposited with State Bank of India (SBI).

Some bank officials and about 15 disciples of Baba, in the presence of trust members, have since Thursday counted the cash and valued the gold jewellery.

Ratnakar, however, denied that they found any will of Baba. He also evaded queries if the trust found any documents about Baba's personal caregiver Satyajit. There are speculations that the spiritual guru wanted Satyajit to be a member of the powerful trust.

Yajur Mandir, also known as Yajurveda Mandir, had remained closed ever since Sathya Sai Baba was hospitalised March 28 with multi-organ dysfunction. He died April 24.

The trust, which manages the huge spiritual empire led by Baba, owns assets in Puttaparthi, Bangalore, Hyderabad and other cities.
